#Our story and the meaning of Jambu
We believe every person has more potential than they use. What most of us need is a guide we can trust. Jambu is built to be that guide, for everyday life, in your own language.
#How we started
Jambavanta started with a simple motive: to bring AI out of the lab and into everyday life, for the many people that today's products miss. India is building powerful AI models, and that is a great thing. But a powerful engine does not help anyone until it is built into something people use. The same engine in a fighter jet, a passenger plane or a family car does very different things, and it only serves people when it is built into a vehicle made for them.
Jambu is our attempt at that vehicle: a product built for ordinary days, in ordinary languages, for ordinary families. The models are the engine. The product is what takes people where they want to go.
#The problems we want to solve
- Most AI leaves people out. It works best for those who type fluently in English and already know what to ask. Most of the world does not.
- Help is hard to find in your own language. People think, speak and plan in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Bengali and many more, and still get help only in a language that is not theirs.
- Everyday life is heavy. Bills, forms, medicines, exams and goals slip, not because people are careless, but because there is no one to remind them gently or help them plan.
- Not everyone has someone to ask. A student with no mentor, a parent with no time, a grandparent who is not comfortable with screens.
- Families need to look after each other safely. Parents want their children to learn and grow with AI, with a parent still in charge.
- People worry about being watched. So Jambu keeps only what you choose to share, and you can see it, change it or delete it.
#Where the name comes from
Jambu is built by Jambavanta, named after Jambavan, the wise elder in the Ramayana. When Hanuman stood at the shore, unsure that he could cross the ocean, Jambavan reminded him of the strength he already had. Hanuman did not need to be given power. He needed someone he trusted to help him remember it.
This is where the two ideas meet: the engine is the power, and the guide is the one who helps you use it. That is the idea behind Jambu. We do not think a helper should do everything for you or tell you who to be. A good guide helps you see what you can do, break it into steps you can take, and stay with you until it is done. The jambu is also a fruit tree known across India, and the name is easy to say in many languages.
#What we want Jambu to be
A guide you can trust, that helps you use your full potential: for a student, a parent, a grandparent, a person starting a business, or anyone with something they want to do. It is not a replacement for the people in your life. It is a helper that makes the time and effort you have go further.
#How we hold ourselves to it
- It speaks your language, and we add a language only after people who speak it have checked it.
- You decide what it keeps.
- It tells you plainly what it cannot do. It is not a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser, and it never moves your money.
- Children use it with a parent in charge.
- We say what works today and mark what is still coming.
